The Art of the Commission

When a work of art is commissioned I work in partnership together with the art consultant, gallery or client to create a made to order oil painting that is a custom fit in size, color, and design to the space that it will be highlighting.

I have numerous photos on file that may already be what you are looking for or if not I will photograph to your specifications, we will review together the photos I have taken and choose what image we feel would make a most beautiful painting. Once we have found the perfect image, a sketch is completed to show composition. Then I retreat to my studio and begin painting. The painting is viewed throughout the completion process by the client so that any revisions can be made.

During the last 5-7 years 70% of my paintings have been commissioned by corporate or private clients and all of them have been extremely happy with the outcome of the artwork they commissioned.

Recently completed commission projects include:

  • Two 46” x 68” paintings commissioned by the Marriot Copley Plaza, Boston, MA and installed in their reception area. The first painting features the view from the Bay Tower room overlooking the Custom House and the second painting showcases the Public Garden in springtime.
  • A 4’ x 6’ oil painting of the downtown Providence, RI skyline for the law firm of MacAdams & Wieck.
  • Two large oil paintings commissioned by the Marriott Corp. in Cambridge that feature Boston skyline views from the Charles River and the Longfellow Bridge.
  • Twelve large oil paintings commissioned by the East Cambridge Savings Bank highlighting the beauty and unique imagery surrounding the streets and backroads of the banks headquarters
  • Two oil paintings of Boston Common commissioned by Nortwestern Mutual Life and highlighting the building they reside in at One Beacon Street.

Please contact the artist to discuss painting commission specifics for any project you may be considering.
